Ideas for an overnight cloth diaper…for a 5 year old?
I’ve heard wool covers work well. I’m tired of buying pullups. He’ll grow out of the night-issue eventually! What will hold overnight? The pullups have been leaking!
Just to add…he is completely potty-trained during the day and has been since 2 1/2 years old. He just wets at night when he’s sleeping really soundly.
Before you pull him out of diapers completely or put him into cloth diapers that may cause a nasty rash and a lousy sleep for both of you, take him to the doctor! Some children have bladder control issues into their early teens! In the U.S., about 5 to 7 million children aged 6 years or older suffer from primary nocturnal enuresis also called nighttime bed-wetting or the involuntary loss of urine at night when they could reasonably be expected to stay dry. If a child wets the bed after age 5 or 6, there is an 85% chance he or she will still do it a year later, based on statistics from the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).
The bladder may not have developed to the point of allowing for retention of fluid through the night and the “sensor” that works in most children may not be developed yet. Buy the goodnite brand of pullup. They are made specifically for children who are wetting the bed at night.
Kids need to know that you aren’t angry with them so don’t punish him for it. He really can’t help it. He isn’t lazy or enjoying sleeping in a wet bed. He will develop the control but for now, help him out and put him in goodnites.
