How do you clean a delicate white shirt?
I just found one of my favorite shirts that I thought I lost!
It’s a delicate white eyelet shirt which unfortunately doesn’t look as bright white as it used to look.
I noticed on the tag it says hand wash only. Should I do just that, and hand wash it? What is the best way to hand wash a delicate white shirt?
Or would it be better to take it to the dry cleaners?
How can I make the white shirt bright white without ruining it?
Any help I would very appreciate it 
To hand wash a delicate shirt follow these steps:
1. Pre-soak the item in water with the mild soap to loosen the dirt and grime.
2. Rinse out soap in luke warm water until the fabric feels slippery or squeaky to the touch.
3. For extra body and softness you can add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the final rinse (baking soda is a great cleaner to have around).
4. If it is silk that you are washing you can add a dash of vinegar to the final rinse to add shine to the fabric.
5. Lay out the rinsed clothes on a flat clean towel and roll up to remove excess water; then lay out on another flat clean towel to dry.
For Whitening the shirt follow these steps:
1. Wash shirts by hand in cold water. To counteract yellowing, use a non-chlorinated whitener – such as OxiClean Free Versatile Stain Remover.
2. Do NOT use bleach as it weakens fibers. Also AVOID dry-cleaning cotton or linen as the chemicals used in the cleaning process can yellow a white item after several cleanings.
3. Sunlight is a natural whitener so hang your whites out to dry unless your garmnet is silk, polyeaster or Lycra. Hang these inside instead.
EDIT: Sorry if there was any confusion. No, not ALL clothes will yellow with dry cleaning. I only spoke about white cotton or linen, that as I said, those CAN yellow after several cleanings. The best thing is know your dry cleaner and how often the solvent is changed. If you take these type of white laundry in, make sure the solvent is clean that day to keep your fabrics safe.
