What’s the difference between quilt, bedspread, blanket, comforter, and throw?
I have a new bed and planning to get the necessary stuff for it. Right now I have sheets, pillows, and a blanket. I plan to get the rest from IKEA.
What are the differences IKEA quilts, bedspread, blanket, comforter, and throw?
And for quilts, how do you know what warmth level is good for you? (level 1-5)
Quilts are bed covers that have elaborate stitching (usually 10 stiches per inch) in a decorative pattern all over the surface. The have a layer of fabric, then batting, then fabric. They are any size but cover the mattress
Comforter are like quilts without the elaborate stiching. They are a layer of fabric, batting, fabric with minimal stiching. They are usually lighter than a quilt and less expensive. They are larger than the matress but do not touch the floor
Blankets are a single layer of fabric – usually woven. They are a little larger than the size of the matress
Bedspreads are the top cover over your sheet & blanket – they cover the bed and go down to the floor – they can be made of any fabric.
Throws are small blankets, they do not cover the bed. They are more for covering the individual durings naps
