Should I buy a new carseat now?
My daughter is 6 months old and seems cramped in her infant carrier carseat. She can sit up on her own now, so can ride in the front of shopping carts. Would this be a good time to purchase a convertable carseat? I still do use the carrier occasionally when she is sleeping, so I’m not sure if she’s too young yet. What do you think? What age did you stop using the carrier type seat. I do have a sling that she likes. So, I was considering just using that when she’s sleey instead of lugging the big heavy carrier around. She weighs 17 pounds and is about 27 inches long. I am only 5′ tall and weigh about 95lbs. So, the carrier is getting much harder for me to tote around.
What brand of convertable seat would you recommend?
Convertible carseats can be used from birth to be honest so I don’t know why some people are saying twenty pounds. Twenty pounds is usually just the max that a infant carrier will go to before you are recommended to switch them over.
I would suggest the Britax Marathon, it goes rear facing from 5-33 lbs and forward facing from 1 year old and 20 to 65 lbs.
I own two marathons and they are easy to install and one of the highest rated carseats out there, they also come in really pretty fabrics.
if not the marathon then I would also suggest a roundabout , which can accomodate a child up to 40 lbs and has the same weight limits rear facing (5-33 lbs)
