“Baby, Come Sit with Daddy” – Bicycle Baby Carriers
By taking the infant while riding a bike is a conservative approach on these modern ways of living. But, some take risks by using backpacks and slings to carry their child throughout the riding scenario. Riding with backpacks and slings has potential dangers regarding taking your child for a ride in a bike.
There is a greater chance that a child is underneath the adult in case they tumble because the distance of the child is higher and vulnerable in a fall. Most issues are because of safety for preventing injuries. But, safety really matters the most when it comes to taking care of infants. That’s why people are still trying to make the safest equipment to lessen the accident. It is fairly common to see infants hitched to a parent’s back in some less constrained societies.
Taking your kids along on a bike with the use of an extra seat is more convenient than the use of backpacks and slings. However, safety really is a sensitive thing. Manufacturers developed a seat which comes in two types, the traditional rear seat and the front-mounted seat. But, there are still advantages and disadvantages.
The traditional rear back seat is good at protecting the passenger the most. It is because, in case of tumbles and crashes, the passenger on the back would only receive minor head and arm injuries. But, as expected, the one who will suffer the most is the driver.
To avoid that, both driver and the back seat passenger should be extra cautious while riding. A problem occurs when this seat lacks on safety features, there is a chance that the foot of the child might get caught in the spokes. Being in the back, it is really boring seeing just the back of an adult while you ride with them, you can’t also see what’s happening behind you.
Most people says the front-mounted seat is much better to the traditional, it is place in front of the rider so the gravity matters is clearly in the center giving the rider to steer in an easier way. Being in front, you can talk with your child and even sing along with him/her. Even little emergencies can be taken off at ease. The great difference on the back ride and front ride is getting the child in and out of the bike. It is easier to place and remove your little kid with the front mounted seat because you can maintain your balance.
But, whatever type of seat it may be, it will still depend on which is more comfortable and safer to take your kid while riding a bike.
