Sleep Sack

When using a sleep sack, what should babies wear?
I’m having my first child in a few months and I don’t want to use blankets for nightime sleeping in the basinette/crib until he/she can roll over. I want to use a sleep sack. My question is, what should babies wear underneath the sleep sack? Just a onesie and socks? Footsie pajamas?
I always put my son in pajamas with his sleep sack, lightweight ones in the summer and fleece ones with feet in the winter. I also had 2 sleep sacks… a lightweight t-shirt material one for summer and a heavier fleece one for winter.
My son is 16 months old and still uses his sleep sack. He rolls around so much that his blankets get thrown off, this way I know he’s staying warm all night long.
