Safety Leash

Any tips on training your cat to use a harness (leash)?
I have an indoor cat who doesn’t really even wear a collar, she has a safety collar but she’s so tiny – she’s a Singapura and I worry she may choke on it, she doesn’t like wearing it much either. I’m currently living in Singapore and moving back to New York in July – I adopted her here. I will be taking her with me and she will be flying in cabin and I did some research and for the x-ray machine for carry on I will have to take her out of her carrier and we know how quickly cats can escape our arms, I’m trying to get her used to a harness (around her front legs) so I can have her on a leash but she just seems to want to tear it off with her teeth and I’m afraid she’ll break one of her teeth. What’s the best way to get her to accept the harness so I can have her secure at the airport? I won’t use a regular collar cause I have read stories about cats choking on those. Please help!
I would start putting it on her indoors a little bit at a time. Make sure she can get out of it so it doesn’t feel like a trap. Once she gets used to the harness, attach a leash and let her “walk” you. When that goes well indoors, take her outdoors and do the same thing. Once she is comfortable walking in the leash, then teach her to follow you by bribing her with treats.
Cats are very adaptive but are creatures of habit. They do not like sudden change. However, if you introduce them to something slowly, they are more likely to accept it.
