When is it age appropriate to remove the latches or safety locks from cabinets?
My older two are 17 and 19, so it’s been too long to remember, but my younger two (twins) are 3. I have recently painted my kitchen cabinets and only really had a lock by then on the kitchen cleaners cabinet. The type of lock I had looped on the outside handles will cause wear on the new painted finish. What age do you think I might be able to not have a lock? I am thinking about have my husband put an inner lock on just those two cabinets.

Thats still young enough to get into stuff not realizing it is harmful. Messing the paint on two cabinet doors is nothing major and can be easily and cheaply fixed. You really shouldnt be that worried about the new paint anyways. With young kids Im sure you know lots of things are gonna get scratched, scuffed, spilled on, and all sorts of other stuff. If it is really such a hardship to keep the lock on, move these chemicals to a top cabinet instead of a bottom one.
