Why does my cat HATE to be touched, petted, or loved?
We got “Tigger” a year before we added another kitty. She was never a lover, but she would occasionally lay on my and let me rub the top of her head. Its been 6 months since we added “Baby Roo” and ever since her addition Tigger will NOT let us pet her. She moves away as if it physically hurts her to be petted! And if she knows I’m moving towards her to pet her, she runs off. Why??
Well this could be 1 of 3 things.
1. Tigger’s jealous of Baby Roo and is pissed at you for “replacing’ her. The solution to this is spending one-on-one time with just you and Tigger and letting her know you could never replace her and that you still love her.
2. Tigger could actually have something physically wrong with her and you may want to consult your local vet and get her an appointment just to be on the safe side. You cant always figure out internal injuries by yourself.
3. Baby Roo may remind her of another cat-which in turn could remind her of a traumatic experience in her life. Maybe she was friends with a cat that looked or smelled like Baby Roo and that cat died. Or maybe Tigger was abused right along with another cat that looked or had the same scent as Baby Roo. If this is the case, try to get the two together more and rub their scents on each other so theyll be more comfortable with each other.
