i want to make a realllly big quillow for my friend…..help?!?

OK so you guys may know of “quillows”, those blankets that have the pocket on them that fold into a pillow. Well, I want to make one for my friend in the Army. So I’m using camo print minky to make it. We are close to the same height (5’11) I already have one someone gave to me, but its really too short to be perfect. So I want to make this one extra special because 1) I love this guy 2) the fabric is really expensive
and 3) I want it to last. So alll that being said, I would be forever thankful if someone could tell me the dimensions I should make the two sides and the pocket square. I want it to be about as long as he is. Oh, and I need to know what to take it account as far as the material being kinda thick.

Usually they are just made to be throw blankets, so you may want to figure what size you want it to be first in inches, then figure everything else out. IT may seem silly, but lay down newspaper to help you get the measurements, it will help you see the actual length and width without trying to picture it in your head

A trick for sewing thick layers is using a hammer. Cover the fabric with a protective cloth and firmly pound the thick area. You will be surprised at how the thickness reduced, and your machine will certainly thank you! Since you are only sewing the seams, you don’t have to worry about fabric damage; however, it is always wise to test the procedure before tackling the entire project. Also, if you are using a sewing machine, you may want to pick up some new needles that are made for thicker fabrics.
