Brake problem with 79 Chevy Custom Deluxe Pickup Truck (C10)?
I just replaced the power booster and the brakes went from being very stiff before to now being very soft. They seem to work ok but also the brake lights now are constantly ON. What could be causing either or both of these?
Hmm, the master cylinder is new as of 2 months ago and replace all the brake lines at that time too so I know its full. Before removing the vacuum booster the brakes were very tight, and the pedal didn’t have to move much to come to a screeching halt. When the booster went bad, the brakes were still tight but had to push much harder. Now the brakes work pretty well but the go way down before stopping. The brake lights may just be the switch/ trigger on the pedal right? So I will try to get the lights off and I guess as long as the brakes are stopping the truck, I shouldn’t worry about them being soft?
The softer pedal is a sign the booster is working. As for the brake lights staying on; I would first check the brake light switch.
