Cradle Mattress

Are these cradle mattress dimensions Ok?
We just put together a cradle for our baby due 2/3. The closest mattress we can find is 18 x 36, so there will be a 1/2 inch gap between the mattress and rail. It doesnt sound like a lot, but looks substantial. Everything I see about sids says a gap can be a suffocation hazard, even the cradle directions. However, it was built to dimensions of no mattress we can find. Will this be ok? Any suggestions?
ack. That’s a tough one- even if you stuff the sides, the stuffing itself could be a suffocation hazard.
Try contacting the cradle manufacturer, or speaking with a mattress company with the specifics- it could be a custom order.
