Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seat
If you are looking to get the safest car seat for you child, I would highly consider the Britax Marathon convertible car seat. Our family has been using Britax car seats for the past 8 years because they protect better than any car seat on the market.
The legendary Britax Marathon convertible car seat is your ideal selection for comfort, safety and convenience for infants and children of all ages. Many parents say it takes the guesswork out of properly fitting your child into a convertible car seat because it’s so easy to adjust the harness straps to fit your little one. Infant-only seats have handles that allow you to move the seat from the car to the house or other locations. Some have a base that you can leave installed in the car, so you can just click the car seat into place each time you use it.
With built-in lockoffs (say goodbye to those AWFUL “H” shaped locking clips!), easy to read instructions, great customer service, and plenty of comfort features, Britax does everything it can to make sure its seats are used correctly. They also advocate best practices in seat safety like keeping kids rear facing as long as possible (at least 2 years, TWICE the current society norms) and keeping kids harnessed as long as possible, to at least 4 years and 40lbs before using booster seats. It also features the Britax patented Versa-Tether system and EPS impact foam which helps keep baby safe in the head and torso areas.
The Marathon convertible car seat is identical in all comfort and convenience features but has a higher weight maximum, and is therefore larger than the Roundabout. The Britax Marathon will still fit in almost every vehicle type in the forward-facing position, but may be too large to be installed rear-facing in smaller back seats.
Britax makes many models of car seats. I have focused on the Marathon because it is the Mount Everest of car seats. Often, it is heavier than your child when you first put him/her in the seat. You will appreciate the solid construction of the unit.
