knitted baby onesie pattern help?
I just finished making the rib for one leg and am now changing to a twisted cable. I am a little confused with what the pattern is asking me to do though. It states:
At the same time as the twist cable, shape the leg. After rib, increase 1 stitch at edge every 5th row 0 times, and every 4th row 8 times. Work until leg measures 6″, ending with a wrong side row.
Could you explain is simpler terms what it means (what I will be doing) when I am shaping the leg?
The side seam of the leg will remain straight, so no increases on the side. On the center, you’re increasing to create the crotch area and provide room for the upper legs. What I would do is increase at the center edge on the 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th, 24th, 28th and 32nd rows.
I would predict that when the leg is 6″ long, you’ll put the stitches onto a holder while you knit the other leg with the shaping reversed.
