I want to give this 5 stars, but…
BEWARE: The ocean discovery cards featuring real life images of 6 underwater animals have “stickers” on the plastic circles which can be chewed off. Very poor choice of material for this age group which put everything in their mouth. I took these attachments away, but absolutely love everything else about the gym. I would have given it 5 stars otherwise. My son started rolling within a day of using this mat. The colorful mat gave him a great incentive to want to be on his tummy. The octopus is designed very well because it hangs above his head but he can pull it down and it reaches perfectly to chew on. The music is less annoying than most toys.

Wow – when we registered for this item, I never imagined my son would enjoy it so much! As a premie, it took him until he was about 2 months old to really enjoy this. Before that, he was a little overwhelmed. We did not turn on the musical sea attachment at first because we were a little worried about overstimulation. After a few enjoyable “sessions” (about 5-10 minutes at a time), we attached the musical sea attachment and placed it on the “movement” setting. Our son has to activate the music by grabbing and pulling on one of the hanging toys or kick the sea attachment directly. He LOVED it and it really helps with cause and effect. Now, at 5 months old, he still really enjoys his limited “alone time” playing with this playmat. We have slowly introduced different ones of the hanging toys and it’s nice because the Einstein holders will accomodate other toys hanging from the playmat as well. This has become of the most used items we have in the house! Nice job Baby Einstein!

Fun for playtime
This is a great mat for my 4.5 month-old. Keeps him entertained and moving. Like to grab at the brightly colored toys. Good mix of soft items, rattles and teethers. The music toy is good, but looks a bit enhanced online. It plays music and has color lights that flash. Online it appears the toy background changes or moves but it doesn’t. The mat is very colorful which baby likes. The graphics are realistic sea-creatures. A great item. Buys time for coffee and paper in the morning.

The best I’ve found!
I have gotten several different play mats for my 4 month old and none of them entertained him, but this one does. He’ll sit for up to 30min. on his own laughing and making noises on this mat!
Strengths:
-Very colorful and grabs his attention
-Lights and music (can be set to activate by motion, touch, or to play for 15min. which is the longest I’ve found) this is what sold me on the product!
-Tons of attachable and detachable toys that could be used in cribs and playpens
-Great sized mirror
-Whale pillow, which he loves to use for tummy time and supervised
-Easy to store and move around
-Can see him using it for months to come!
Negative:
-One of the toys is really strange (two round/flat discs) that I removed and I don’t see him playing with
This is a must for anyone with a little one!! It gives you a little time in the day to get a few things done and the babies LOVE it!!!

Morning fun
My daughter loves this gym. She spends about a half hour every morning (after chattering my ear off) playing by herself with this toy. Her favorite is the turtle rattle/links guy. She talks up a storm to it and loves to bat at everything – she’s 3 months old.
